Swap-O-Rama-Rama

2003 - 2017 Worldwide
Wishing to create a remedy for the lust for stuff I designed a community based model for repurposing textiles. Swap-O-Rama-Rama was adapted by over 150 cities world wide and it helped to repurpose many tons of textile waste. Each event featured the unwanted clothing of all who attended (free), DIY stations for learning to modify and repair clothing (silk screening, sewing, grommeting, composting textiles, wearable electronics etc), and a fashion show in which participants showed off their creations.

Swap-O-Rama-Rama was the first project awarded a grant by Burning Man’s Black Rock Arts org for projects that take place off playa (not in Black Rock City during the social experiment called Burning Man).
