KETSUP & Onions

These two works explored works of surprise in the public space and the human propensity to explain what is in plain sight. For both projects Marina Potok and myself remained silent so that we could capture the projections of those who witnessed the projects. In truth the meaning of pouring ketsup or peeling onions is insignificant, they were meaningless gestures shaped to capture the viewers imagination and invite in their own frame of reference.

KETSUP Marina Potok and I poured 100 bottles of KETSUP onto a a tarp in a NYC park.

ONIONS explored the human dynamic of dismissal. For this work Marina Potok and I placed ourselves on  on the street, a few blocks south of Central Park on 5th Avenue amongst retail environments such as Gucci, FAO Schwartz, and the like. We peeled 100lbs of onions.
